The construction industry is under increasing pressure to reduce its carbon footprint. At Mattig & Lindner in Brandenburg, a clear answer is emerging: more sustainable concrete production is already possible—today, and under real-world conditions.
Sonocrete has developed a technology that enables concrete producers to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions while maintaining the fast production cycles required in precast manufacturing. This is especially relevant as lower-carbon cements are already available on the market but often struggle to meet the early strength requirements needed for efficient industrial processes.
At the Mattig & Lindner site, this challenge is addressed directly. By integrating Sonocrete’s ultrasonic technology into the production process, a highly reactive cement slurry is created and added during mixing. This increases early strength development, allowing producers to maintain or even accelerate production cycles—despite using more sustainable cement types.
Mattig & Lindner, a family-owned construction company founded in 1909, has a long tradition of combining practical construction expertise with applied research. Since the 1990s, the company has actively engaged in innovation projects and is now focusing on climate-friendly concrete solutions in response to growing environmental demands.
Through this collaboration, Sonocrete’s technology has moved beyond the prototype stage. It is already in use in multiple plants across Germany and internationally, with well over one million cubic meters of concrete produced using the process. This demonstrates that the technology is not experimental, but industrially viable and integrated into daily operations.
The impact is substantial: CO₂ emissions can be reduced by approximately 30–35% annually. This is achieved through improved cement reactivity, enabling lower clinker content while maintaining performance.
Equally important, this shift does not come at a higher cost. Sonocrete’s approach deliberately avoids a “green premium,” making climate-friendly concrete economically viable for producers and developers alike.
As regulatory pressure and investor expectations continue to rise, sustainable construction methods are becoming a requirement rather than an option—particularly in large-scale residential and industrial projects. With proven performance and economic feasibility, Sonocrete and its partners are positioning themselves at the forefront of this transition.
